C1 Pre-Tour Checklist

Here are things to check when preparing your Model A for its next tour:
Inspections  Open Autos   Lubrication
Equipment: Tools, Supplies, Spare Parts

Inspections: Before each tour make the following inspections:
____  Fan blade (cracked, bent, too close to radiator)
____  Fan belt
____  Water pump (end play and packing)
____  Radiator hoses
____  Water level in radiator (plain water with anti-rust additive)
____  Tire tread and inflation (35 psi)
____  Wheels (cracks, wobbled out lug nut holes, hub tightness, lug nut tightness)
____  Rear axle nut (tightness and install new cotter keys)
____  Front wheel bearings
____  Steering (excessive play or tightness)
____  Shock arms and links
____  Head torque
____  Distributor set screw
____  Windshield wiper motor and blade (put Rain-X® on windshield)
____  Lights-headlamps, parking, brake, tail, interior, turn signals (if installed)
____  Generator - set at 2 to 10 amps (2 to 5 amps for long summer tours)
____  All wiring connections
____  Battery posts (cleaned) and battery water (distilled)
____  Points and spark plugs (clean and gap before first tour)
____  Brakes (adjust)
____  Wishbone ball (tightness)
____  General inspection for loose parts and pieces
____  If you have not run your car for awhile, take it on a 20-mile test drive.

Lubrication  Top
Follow the mileage recommended in service manual

____  Grease water pump
____  Grease chassis
____  Grease throw-out bearing sparingly

Amp meter Ap paper (one roll)
File, 6 inch Bailing wire (soft steel wire)
Crank/lug wrench Car keys (extra set)
Crescent wrench Cotter keys
End wrenches 7/16" and 3/4" Duct-tape and electrical tape
Grease gun (small, Model A type) Fire extinguisher (1A 10BC 2.5 lbs)
Hacksaw and blade Flashlight and batteries
Hub knocker Hand cleaner, rags, and work gloves
Jack and jack handle Insurance card
Knife Locktite
Model A monkey wrench Miscellaneous nuts and bolts
Model A spark plug wrench Oil (1-4 qts for long trip)
Point File Plastic squeeze bottle

Regular pliers Plumber's putty
Screw driver Rain X
Screw starter Sandpaper
Socket set (3/8" with 6" extension) Silicon gasket
Tire tools Tow rope
Trash bags
Water (1 gallon)
Wire nuts and wire ties
